Handy - The One-Hand Keyboard for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Quick & Easy 1 Handed Typing App Reviews

Regret!!!

Expensive and not very well designed... The letters are all inverted and dont follow the conventional separation, so the A is on the same row as QWERTY. All messed up!

Not a one handed keyboard

Requires a second hand when you need to access emojis and numbers. No autocorrection. Keyboard not scalable, its just to small. I dont understand why its not larger when theres more room in can you. Not ready for real use.

Not handy

Although the concept of an arched keyboard is perfect, the buttons are way too small and the fact that the return key is on the complete opposite side makes no sense to me. Cant start a separate paragraph with one hand!

It has potential but...

It does need work. The keyboard needs to have size options as well as have the choice to have the entire keyboard on one side when in Landscape mode. The fact that the Shift, Enter and Alt Char key is on the opposite side makes it inconvenient to type anything other than a basic text message. Hopefully the developer is working on an update which will address these issues, otherwise Ill have wasted my money.

Dpnt wasye ypur money

bttons are crazy small and ou lose autpcorrect

Bad

Its too bad Cant write any things Words are too small

Not the best one

Couldnt use it on my iPhone 6 Plus, because the buttons are too small and too close to each other, so the idea of using only thumb to type is not working. Also no info on languages and its only English, I needed more than one and couldnt find it the description

Great Idea - big issues

LOVE this idea. I look forward to someone (hopefully Apple) dominating this idea. Heres what would make this app a 5 Star: 1: KEYS TOO SMALL: You outsmarted yourself and made it too reachable. You have more room to stretch it and make the keys bigger. 2: STICK TO QWERTY: "A" is at the end of the first row - weird for my brain. Stick with the row layout of QWERTY 3: MOVE THE SHIFTS: Whats the point of a reachable keyboard if the shift, numbers, etc are all the way on the other side of the screen and UNREACHABLE? I have to use my other hand to shift to caps, choose numbers, etc. 4: LOWER THE PRICE!! I only have this a shot because Im desperate for a solution and this has a pleasing aesthetic. But $2.99 is way too much for this keyboard. Fix it and lower the price. Im going to try others until I find one. Gotta solve the one-handed keyboard.

Great concept horrible execution

I cant reach any of the keys in the lower corners, I feel as though the keyboard would be better suited in the middle of the phone, left or right justified. Also keys are way too small. Dont waste your money on this.

Eh

please I am absolutely begging you make this app customizable make it so you can change the size of the buttons and keyboard lay out. I will actually use this if it was in qwerty keyboard lay out

Not ready for prime time.

As others have noted, messing with asdf is a bad idea. Makes it a constant aggravation. And the important keys on the other side--- its a cop out. Clearly not a common-sense solution to make a one-handed keyboard and put a bunch of keys unreachable. And the keys are too small. Different people have different reach-- make it customizable. At least have a few sizes to choose from. All-in-all, this feels like something that everyone knew wasnt ready to release, but they decided to throw it out half-baked and fix it in updates. I hope.

Great concept, but needs work

First off, the author is absolutely on the money about the need for a keyboard like this. It’s very difficult to use the bigger iPhone 6 Plus one-handed, so a one-handed keyboard sounds perfect. And in concept, it is. The keys are organized very intuitively - if you’ve used QWERTY keyboards a lot, your brain will just know where to press, since the keyboard is basically a QWERTY keyboard splayed out into a quarter-circle. All keys are very easy to reach, and holding down on a key will bring up extra characters, similarly to how the iOS keyboard already functions. There are also buttons along the left for changing your handedness (right/left), opening settings, and changing to other keyboards. This isan excellent idea and will become a near-necessity for users once it gains popularity… …and also has had some time to mature. There are a few areas where the keyboard is sorely lacking compared to other keyboards like Swiftkey. The worst offender is the apparent lack of auto-correct. Given how small each key is, it’s surprising Handy doesn’t have this feature, and it makes it much harder to type anything accurate as a result. Also, the “A” key seems to have been moved out of place - it currently takes up the position where the “P” key would go. I can’t imagine why the author did this, since every other key position was incredibly easy to find. It’d be much better if the key arrangement was 1:1 with a normal QWERTY keyboard. Finally, there seems to be a bug where é characters will be randomly inserted into my typing. It’s likely a bug that needs fixing. Also, being able to swipe over letters would be a nice-to-have, but it would definitely have to come along after the above issues are addressed. Is Handy worth buying right now? Honestly, unless you want to experience the concept yourself, no. That being said, Handy is going to be a must-buy once the issues above are addressed; this is a brilliant concept that just needs some development time to work out its kinks.

Spencer

My keyboard never changed as described. I thought this would be convenient, but truth is, I paid for the app and it doesnt work. And everytime I tried to post my review, I got a message telling me the nickname was taken and there is only one other review. Not worth the time.

Terrible app

Dont buy it! Letters too small. You have to use both hands at times. Save your money.

How do you make it work?

I downloaded it and did what the video said to activate it. Nothing happened. I am still just getting my regular keyboard. $3 wasted.

Can I get a refund!?

Buttons are to small, and no spell correction. Save your $!

Nice foundation

I enjoy the apps conceptual beginnings but I hope some updates will address the need for an autocorrect and a larger set of buttons. A few reviews have mentioned that their keyboard didnt do anything. You must press the keyboard button to access the installed keyboard. Also I would like to be able to keep the keyboard without actually having to keep the icon app present on the phone. This isnt required for Emojis so Im sure it could be easily alleviated. All the while I think the functionality is a great concept but could definitely use some subtle touch ups. Ras

It needs so much work.

The format is a great idea but it just doesnt work well yet. It doesnt recognize finger taps and the keys themselves are quite small so it would be nice to have an option to change their size a little. Additionally, as other reviewers pointed out, autocorrect needs to be better.

Awful

This app is a complete waste of time!! Way to small as far a the key board !! Dont waste your money on this

Great idea. Not ready for use.

The buttons are too small. The keys arent laid out in true querty format. I get that to do that youd have to have larger outer buttons than inner buttons, however that seems like a rather small concession to enable usability. The side should scale depending on model of phone. The semi circle should begin where the average size users thumb comfortably rests on the side and end where it comfortably rests at the top and should possibly be resisable/scalable or increase/decrease for a man/woman respectively. As it is currently, I have to draw my thumb inward to use even the outermost key. Its simply inefficient. I tried using it long enough to get used to the layout however it became clear after a short time that it would not increase phone usability. I am hopeful that there will be future updates that will improve on functionality otherwise it was an unfortunate waste of 3 dollars and my time.
